Which gauge matters?
نویسنده
چکیده
I present a new interpretation of the Aharonov–Bohm by identifying an overlooked physical field: the current field. The interpretation is non-arbitrary, completely local, deterministic, and separable. I then consider the connection between theoretical methodology and fundamental ontology by considering Earman’s call to consider gauge matters. I conclude that we should be clear about which gauge matters we consider, and question the tight connection he draws between the methodological and ontological roles of gauge fields. r 2006 Elsevier Ltd. Supersymmetric Gauge Theories with Matters, Toric Geometries and Random Partitions
We derive the relation between the Hilbert space of certain geometries under the Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization and the perturbative prepotentials for the supersymmetric five-dimensional SU(N) gauge theories with massive fundamental matters and with one massive adjoint matter. The gauge theory with one adjoint matter shows interesting features. A five-dimensional generalization of Nekrasov’s part...
متن کاملSeiberg-Witten Theory of Rank Two Gauge Groups and Hypergeometric Series
In SU(2) Seiberg-Witten theory, it is known that the dual pair of fields are expressed by hypergeometric functions. As for the theory with SU(3) gauge symmetry without matters, it was shown that the dual pairs of fields can be expressed by means of the Appell function of type F4. These expressions are convenient for analyzing analytic properties of fields. We investigate the relation between Se...
متن کاملGauge Matters
The constrained Hamiltonian formalism is recommended as a means for getting a grip on the concepts of gauge and gauge transformation. This formalism makes it clear how the gauge concept is relevant to understanding Newtonian and classical relativistic theories as well as the theories of elementary particle physics; it provides an explication of the vague notions of “local” and “global” gauge tr...
متن کاملWeyl Anomalies of Strings in Temporal Gauge
We consider two-dimensional quantum gravity coupled to matters in the temporal gauge, using the Polyakov path integral. We show that the integration over the metric can be explicitly performed under some plausible assumptions. We also discuss that the critical dimensions in string theory may not be determined in the temporal gauge.
